The Hays Speech and Debate team brought home third place Sweepstakes from its first Texas Forensic Association (TFA) qualifying tournament of the 2017-18 season this weekend in La Vernia. The tournament hosted 39 schools and had nearly 600 competitors. Hays students excelled in every field in which they competed, advancing students to finals in most events. Individual standings are as follows.
