With several key players returning from last season’s district championship, the Dripping Springs Tigers volleyball team begins 2017 near the top of the Texas Girls Coaches Associations (TGCA) rankings.
On Monday, Dripping Springs was ranked fifth in the TGCA Class 5A state pre-season volleyball poll.
The Tigers are joined in the top five by perennial 5A powerhouses Tuloso-Midway, Lucas Lovejoy, Rouse and top-ranked Amarillo. The Tigers are also the highest ranked volleyball team in Hays County.
Senior Graceyn Tippens, who led the team in kills last year, returns for Dripping Springs, along with seniors Ava Pritchard, Haley Waggle and Darby Stowers.
Tryouts and practices for the 2017 season begin Aug. 1. Dripping Springs opens the season on the road against Cibolo Steele and Rouse Aug. 7. The Tigers’ home opener is Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. against Lake Travis.
