Starting Dec. 20, the newly rebuilt Post Road Bridge will be officially open for traffic, roughly six months after a temporary replacement was removed to make way for the new construction. Work on the Post Road Bridge began following the 2015 Memorial Day floods. A temporary one-lane bridge made of flat rail cars was installed soon after. The new bridge is two-lanes wide and has four-foot shoulders. The bridge was built within its $900,000 budget and was completed a month ahead of schedule. A full report on the grand opening of the new bridge can be found in next week’s Hays Free Press.
