Kyle Summer Job Hiring Event 


The city of Kyle’s Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a one-day hiring event for recruiting summer staff from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 at the James Adkins Pool. Staff will give a short presentation with information about pool and summer camp jobs. The remaining time will be used to conduct on-site interviews with all interested applicants. Available summer jobs include head lifeguard, lifeguard, pool manager, swim team coach, and teen and youth camp counselors.

Kyle PD Prescription Drug Take Back Day 


Texas Water Utilities, a company that provides water services to many Kyle residents through Monarch Utilities, is partnering with the Kyle Police Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to provide a medication disposal site on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Participants can safely dispose of controlled and uncontrolled substances, over-the-counter medications, ointments, patches, creams, non-aerosol sprays, vials and pet medications. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at 111 N Front St in Kyle.


Wimberley Arts Festival 


Wimberley Arts Fest will be held on April 30 and May 1 at Waters Point Resort, 13401 Ranch Road 12 and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The free festival will feature fine art from 100 artists from across the country. Attendees can enjoy the work of painters, potters, photographers, wood workers, jewelers and more. Live music from eight bands will play throughout both days. For car lovers, the Twelve Kings Car Club will be on hand for a classic car show on Saturday. 


Kyle Area Senior Zone pancake breakfast


The Kyle Area Senior Zone will hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday, May 7 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 101 S. Burleson in Kyle. Plates will cost $6 and include three pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, a biscuit and either coffee or orange juice. There will be a silent auction that will last through 12 p.m. Proceeds will help support KASZ programs and the building fund. City-wide Cleanup in Kyle 


The Kyle Police Department is hosting the Citywide Cleanup event from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at Gregg-Clarke Park. To participate in the event, residents must sign up through the webform at www.cityofkyle.com/communications/citywide-cleanup-sign. The event is limited to the first 500 residents that sign up. Sound the Alarm Save a Life Campaign


Volunteers and staff of the Central Texas Chapter of the American Red Cross will join together on May 21 to install hundreds of free smoke alarms for local families vulnerable to home fires during their Sound the Alarm event in Austin. The effort is part of a national Red Cross initiative to install 50,000 free smoke alarms in more than 50 at-risk communities across the country in May. Register at www.soundthealarm.org. No prior experience is needed. Training will be provided at the Dove Springs Recreation Center before installation visits. Residents in Austin and the surrounding area needing assistance can call (210) 582-1962 to schedule an appointment for a free smoke alarm and fire safety education from volunteers.


Summer Baseball Camp


Lehman High School is hosting a four-day summer baseball camp June 27 through June 30. Head coach Jacob Kaase will direct the program in conjunction with the U.S. Baseball Academy. The camp will feature morning instruction with a focus on hitting and defense. The afternoon session will focus on situational baseball games, competition drills and a Wiffle Ball World Series. Space is limited.
