A Corpus Christi man who is alleged to have sexually assaulted relatives for close to a decade now faces multiple child sexual assault charges in Hays and Nueces Counties.
Salvador Jimenez, 40, was booked into the Hays County Jail July 25 on one count of sexual abuse of a child and two counts of indecency with a child, sexual contact from Nueces County. All charges are first-degree felonies.
Those charges are in addition to four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child that were handed to Jimenez as part of a Hays County Grand Jury’s indictment in 2014. Jimenez is currently being held on a combined $450,000 bond.
An indictment is not an admission of guilt, but a formal accusation made by a grand jury.
The Hays County indictments stem from four separate incidences that began in November 2003.
According to a Hays County arrest affidavit, a Hays County detective was assigned to follow up on a 10-year-old Hays County case against Jimenez in 2014 for a sexual assault of a child charge.
Detective Lenny Martinez reviewed a forensic interview that was conducted with the victim, who is now 17.
At the time of the initial investigation, the victim told investigators the abuse began when she was 6 or 7 years old and continued until she was 12.
According to the affidavit, the victim, identified as a younger cousin of Jimenez, didn’t want to report the inappropriate touching at the time it occurred to avoid causing problems. The touching stopped after the child victim realized the touching was bad, according to the affidavit.
The victim alleged that Jimenez touched her inappropriately at least 200 times, with incidences beginning when Jimenez lived in San Marcos. The victim told investigators the abuse continued when Jimenez moved to Corpus Christi.
After the victim left home to work in Austin and returned to visit family, she learned that Jimenez allegedly had repeated the sexual abuse with her younger sister in Corpus Christi.
According to Hays County documents, a jury trial was set and cancelled over a dozen times since January 2016 due to a separate sexual assault of a child case against Jimenez in Corpus Christi.
The victims in the Corpus Christi case were identified as part of the same family as the victim in the Hays County case.
According to Hays County records, a jury trial in Hays County for Jimenez is set for Sept. 11.
