In an effort to attract new customers to historic downtown, Buda is offering a 50 percent co-marketing reimbursement grant for some Buda businesses to pay for advertising.
Maggie Gillespie, Buda Main Street coordinator, said the grant would cover half of the cost of a downtown business’s ad in magazines, newspapers, television or social media.
“The grant was created to promote and market historic downtown Buda businesses,” Gillespie said.
The grant would be 100 percent funded through the Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds and applicants could apply for funds once every quarter; businesses can receive a maximum of $2,000 from Buda each year.
To be eligible for the grant reimbursement, Gillespie said businesses must be located in the city’s Main Street district.
Advertisements must include the phrase “in historic downtown Buda” and either be located 30 miles outside of Buda, or directly linked to promote tourism.
Gillespie business owners must take their quote from an advertiser and the proposed ad to city staff for approval. Applicants must be submitted by the 15th of the month during that quarter.
Parameters for funding extend as far north as the intersection of Main and Cedar Streets, Gillespie said.
She added several downtown business owners are “very eager for it to begin.”
