On Sept. 30, the Dripping Springs High Marching Tiger Band came away with a first place overall finish at the 2017 Bands of America McAllen Regional competition.

A strong preliminary performance earned the Tiger Band Outstanding Music, Visual and General Effect awards, the Class AAA Championship and a performance spot in finals.

In the Finals, which includes all four classes, the Tiger Band was crowned the BOA McAllen Overall Champion sweeping all captions awards.

DSHS had a total score of 81.15, well ahead of second-place Roma High School’s total of 78.70.
