State of the District
Dripping Springs ISD will hold a “State of the District” presentation for community members and parents on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m. in the board room at the DSISD Administration Building. Superintendent Bruce Gearing will share information on topics such as the district’s vision and goals, academic performance and extracurricular achievements of students, financial status of the DSISD, and future planning. Audience questions also will be addressed.
Xanadu Jr. at DSMS
Dripping Springs Middle School will present “Xanadu Jr.” Nov. 9-11 in the DSMS Cafeteria. “Xanadu Jr.” is a musical adventure that follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek Muse, Kira, who descends from the heaven of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, Calif., in 1980. There, Kira is on a quest to inspire a struggling young artist, Sonny, and embarks on a hilarious adventure filled with romance and chaos. Curtain time each night is 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Healthy parks, healthy people
After taking a break over the summer, the city of Dripping Springs’ Healthy Parks, Healthy People program will reconvene in November with a mountain bike event for all ages. The second annual Mountain Bike Mash Up and Swap Meet, organized by the Dripping Springs Mountain Bike Team in partnership with the city of Dripping Springs will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5. The event will be held at Dripping Springs Ranch Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Stephen F. Austin’s Birthday
On Friday, Nov. 3, all Texans are invited to fly the Texas flag at your home or business to honor Stephen F. Austin, the Father of Texas who brought more than 1200 American colonists to Texas.
DRT Founders Day
On Monday, Nov. 6, DRT and SRT and CRT members are invited to fly their Texas flags at your home or business to honor Betty Ballinger and Hally Perry for organizing a Republic of Texas daughters organization. Sponsored by the Moon-McGehee Chapter, Daughters of The Republic of Texas, in keeping with our dedication to the preservation and education of Texas History.
DS Women’s Club
Come join the Dripping Springs Women’s Club for Holiday Design with Camp Lucy at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 15. Rainwater Revival
The Hill Country Alliance brings its eighth annual Rainwater Revival + Hill Country Living Festival to the Dripping Springs Ranch Park on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival is a combination of fun things to do, like live music, wine tasting, food trailers, tiny homes – and good things to know about, such as water conservation, dark night skies, land stewardship, and wildlife management. More than 75 vendors will share their products, services and information on rainwater harvesting, sustainable energy, green building, home improvements, groundwater conservation, habitat improvement, and much more. Food for Fines
During the month of November, pay off your library fines at the Wimberley Village Library for overdue items by donating non-perishable food items that will be contributed to the Crisis Bread Basket. Each food item is worth $1, and up to $100 in fines may be forgiven. Please make sure that the donated items are not out of date. This program is for overdue fines only; lost or damaged library items are not included.
