Best of 2015: Floods cause millions of dollars in damage, loss of nine lives

The biggest flood to date hit Hays County on Memorial Day, resulting in the loss of nine lives and thousands of dollars worth of damage.  In June Hays County had 1,628 registrations for federal aid worth $6.3 million. Caldwell County had 213 registrations worth $810,000. At the time public assistance was estimated to be $33 million. Many figures increased as the water receded.
