If you’ve been following video games for any length of time, you have probably heard of “The Last of Us.” In many instances, you didn’t have to play the game to understand that culture that surrounds it. If you still hadn’t heard of it, maybe you did from the HBO series that aired last year while breaking viewership records. This series is where my column title, “Wolves never look up,” comes from.

We talk about how our day went, funny stories about her students, what’s for dinner at our houses, something that my beagle Finn did that day and when the next season of “Virgin River” is supposed to come out because we were left on a cliffhanger.

If you had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, at 8 years old, I would’ve told you, “I want to be the first woman president, and my priority after taking office would be to paint the White House lime green because it is my favorite color.” Thankfully, I have two wonderful parents who have always fully supported any aspirations I’ve had throughout my life (including the two months following the 2003 Space Shuttle Columbia disaster when I wanted to be an astronaut).
