Staff Report SAN MARCOS — The Hays County Commissioners Court has awarded a contract to Austin Pets Alive!, a leading animal welfare organization, to continue its groundbreaking work at the Hays County Pet Resource Center.

For nearly 20 years, Lisa Adams has been working on helping members of the community in Hays County — from hospice patients to veterans and their families — and now, the state of Texas has recognized her for her contributions.

BUDA — On Friday, June 28, the city of Buda staff finalized a deal to acquire approximately 30 acres of land on the east side of IH-35 for the future Eastside Park.

At its July 2 meeting, Kyle City Council approved 4-3 to bring back an item at a future meeting that could place a non-binding proposition on the November ballot, which would allow residents to vote whether council should continue to have the same access to the city’s health insurance as a full-time employee, as it was passed on April 2.

KYLE — Kyle City Council held a discussion at its July 2 meeting regarding whether city council credit cards should be eliminated. Ultimately, the cards will be continued, but staff is directed to bring back an analysis on council traveling habits for the upcoming budgeting process.

Staff Report DRIPPING SPRINGS — Dripping Springs ISD students Grant Gillum and Nora Gillum each claimed top-five finishes at the National History Day Contest held June 9-13 at the University of Maryland.

The check will support Student Leadership Grants, Innovative Teaching Grants, and salaries for three licensed mental health professionals and a staff wellness counselor.

DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Dripping Springs High School World Schools Debate team tied for fifth at the National Speech & Debate Tournament held June 16-21 in Des Moines, Iowa.
