Not a temporary daddy's girl

Eminem released “The Death of Slim Shady” a little more than a week ago and, like always, I enjoyed it immensely, but I was shocked by “Temporary.” The song felt like such a 180 after the previous track. Tears began to form in my eyes the moment he said the song was for Hailie and by the time the first chorus hit, I was sobbing at 6 a.m. in bed. Although it doesn’t feature complex lyrics or unique instrumentals, it immediately rose to the top of my album ranking.

Of mice and women

I met Colson at the beginning of 2021. I was browsing at PetSmart and walked past the rodent cages, where I spotted this small black mouse with huge ears: a fancy mouse. I immediately took a photo of him. I thought he was the cutest thing, but I had never had a pet like this growing up, which is what mice, hamsters and guinea pigs were attributed to in my head (well, actually, I did have a guinea pig for about two days until it bit me and I asked my dad to take it back to the store), so I decided not to get him.

The Reverse Golden Rule

As we near the new year, everyone will be setting their goals, whether it be going to the gym, focusing more on selfcare or getting a promotion at work. I have a lot of goals, too, but reflecting on this past year, I have one that will follow me into 2024 — growth.

What’s in a name?

If you’ve been following video games for any length of time, you have probably heard of “The Last of Us.” In many instances, you didn’t have to play the game to understand that culture that surrounds it. If you still hadn’t heard of it, maybe you did from the HBO series that aired last year while breaking viewership records. This series is where my column title, “Wolves never look up,” comes from.

“It is frightfully difficult to know much about the fairies, and almost the only thing for certain is that there are fairies wherever there are children.”
