Dialogue for Peace and Progress


The City of Kyle is hosting its Dialogue for Peace and Progress event series to celebrate Black History Month on Feb. 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kyle City Hall. It will also be available to watch live online through the city’s YouTube channel, the city’s Facebook page and Kyle10. 


 Panelists will include Pastor Jonafa Banbury, Michelle Benziger Winn, Sheila Henderson, Vanessa Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Micheal Moore and Naissa Bayo. Council member Dex Ellison will serve as moderator. 


 The series is held in conjunction with Black History Month, Juneteenth and Hispanic Heritage Month, and aims to promote discussion and facilitate change within the community.

Night to Shine


Radical Church in Kyle is hosting a Shine Thru Parade on Feb. 11 at Negley Elementary, a drive-thru adaptation of Night to Shine — a prom night experience centered on “God’s love and celebrating people with special needs.”


The event is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and will feature a drive down the red carpet, paparazzi, photography opportunities, music and more. Following the parade, a worldwide Night to Shine Virtual Celebration will be held with more events and where each guest will be crowned a king or queen of the prom.

Kyle Valentine’s Dance for People with Disabilities


Kyle’s Parks and Recreation Department will host the first Dance for People with Disabilities in celebration of Valentine’s Day on Feb. 12 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Krug Activity Center.


The event is free and open to all individuals with a disability, regardless of age. Event activities will include a themed dance party with DJ music, swag bags and more. Attendees will have the option to purchase concession items for $1 each. 


Due to the Krug Activity Center’s capacity, the number of participants will be capped to 75 people. Participants that require assistance must be accompanied by a parent, caregiver or other individual providing assistance. They will be counted towards the total capacity number.

Buda Black History Celebration


Buda’s Black History Celebration will take place on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Buda Amphitheater & City Park. 


The theme for this year is Mental Health and Wellness and will feature a panel of speakers on the theme, including Dr. Candace Bellamy, MD, Kettra Allen Priestly, Clinical Social Worker and Therapist (LCSW), and Chef JRodi, Resident Chef, Foodways leader and owner of 3 small plates catering. April Bisor Barnes will serve as moderator. 


The event will also feature a Corvette car show, music and dance performances, a kid zone, food from HurryBack Catering, Phoenix Grille and Dessert Kart, and more.
