Coming soon to Kyle: New businesses in the works on Center Street

By Andy Sevilla

The heavily traveled downtown street that houses Kyle City Hall, a sports bar, the iconic Texas Pie Company, and several other eateries, will soon offer more options for shoppers.

The growing Austin exurb — a commuter suburb — is coming into its own as population growth drives businesses to locate in the once quiet rural town. With an estimated population of about 31,000, the city is attracting restaurants, entertainment, the medical sector and big box retailers.

On Center Street alone, a car parts store is under construction in a vacant lot. Two existing buildings will house a Chinese restaurant and a dance hall.

Across the interstate, Walmart is turning dirt and is expected to finish completion of its project in January.

A Dunkin Donuts and other businesses are moving into the Kyle Village shopping center on Kyle Parkway. And the movie theater on Kyle Crossing should be open by Thanksgiving.
