A Kyle Parks and Recreation Department employee was arrested Monday after allegedly making terror threats in the workplace.
Gabriel Dominic Garza, 33, has been charged with making a terror threat impairing public/government service, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000, according to Hays County jail records.
Though the city is being relatively quiet with the details surrounding this case, citing its ongoing investigation and personnel matters, city spokesperson Jerry Hendrix said “proper restrictions and precautions are in place, that are typical with this type of case, to ensure the safety of employees and the public.”
Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett would not comment on the specifics of the case, but said Garza allegedly made verbal threats “putting others in the workplace in fear of bodily harm.”
Hays County Justice of the Peace Jo Anne Prado issued the warrant for Garza’s arrest, and Hendrix said no weapons were found on Garza’s person or property.
Garza was released Tuesday on a $25,000 bond, according to jail records.
Hendrix said he could not comment on whether Garza was considered dangerous.
Garza joined the city’s Parks and Recreation Department in January 2009.
