DRIPPING SPRINGS -- Eight Dripping Springs High School students advanced to the Texas HOSA Leadership Conference after placing in the top three or top 10% of their respective events at the Texas Area 1 Conference.


The students advancing to the state competition are Cassie Argento-Bird (Veterinary Science), Makenna Blakesley (Medical Spelling), Trevor Burk (Health Care Issues Exam), Natalie Chavez (Prepared Speaking), Connor Johnson (Health Informatics), Tirth Patel (Health Care Issues Exam), Mia Perez (Extemporaneous Writing) and Ella Smith (Physical Therapy). Argento-Bird, Chavez and Perez won their events.


Twenty DSHS students placed in the top five in their events.


The state competition will be held virtually with a date yet to be determined.


HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. It focuses on promoting career opportunities in the healthcare profession and also improving the healthcare system. Students and health science instructors are encouraged to be involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.
