Hays County Sheriff's Office investigates officer involved shooting in Dripping Springs

DRIPPING SPRINGS -- On Saturday, Nov. 5, deputies responded to the 1300 block of Trinity Hills in the

Belterra Subdivision in Dripping Springs regarding a disturbance between a male subject and a

wrecker driver. A short time later, deputies responded to the 100 block of Victoria Court for a

follow-up investigation related to the disturbance.

Upon the deputies’ arrival at the residence on Victoria Court, the subject of the earlier disturbance,

identified as John File, 28, exited the residence and was armed with a knife. He rushed

the deputies and one of the deputies fired several rounds, striking File. A 78-year-old female at

the residence also sustained a gunshot wound to her arm.
