BUDA — At 10:14 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, Buda Police Department officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Hy Road, following reports of gunshots in the area.

Upon arrival, officers observed several vehicles leaving the area, where a large gathering

was taking place, according to a news release. Officers located a juvenile male with a gunshot wound. Two individuals were providing first aid to the victim when an officer applied a tourniquet before assisting with the victim's transfer to an ambulance.

The 16-year-old was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition, the release stated.

Detectives with BPD's Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary information indicates that a physical altercation occurred, during which a firearm was displayed and discharged, striking the juvenile in the arm.

Detectives are working to identify the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting

and are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

Investigators are also seeking video footage that may assist with the investigation and asked anyone who recorded the incident or has original cellphone video to provide that footage directly to investigators. Residents and businesses in the area who may have surveillance footage from the evening of Oct. 31 and anyone with information about the event is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at (512) 523-1045.
