Great news! “Journey of the Wise Men” runs the weekend before Christmas, when most churches have ceased offering holiday events. It takes place at Chapel Dulcinea, not far from the Salt Lick, just off FM 1826. Call (512) 394-0226 for information or see www.chapeldulcinea.org/journey-of-the-wise-men. It’s free! (“O Come, Let Us Adore Him” plays on a loop in my head.)

Mountain City Christmas Décor winners were selected this past weekend, with an electronic vote open to all households in Mountain City, but not without many an hour of help. From Santa’s helpers? No, Loving Mountain City helpers made it possible!
Last year, five winners did not have a sign in their yard and some in winning sections did not have a little green Christmas tree. This year, James Polk and Rick Tarr created more signs with stakes and Christmas trees.
Last year, the survey required a vote on every category and it was not easy to know which house numbers belonged in which section. This year, Mika Medlock Scott created the online voting system, with a myriad of improvements.
Last year, award signs went up several days after Christmas. This year, Ron Tom made the commitment to place the award signage in lawns once the winners were determined.
Many awards are “street/section” awards. This idea, dreamt up years ago when “Light Up The City” started, is simple … but, words can hardly describe it since it mixes some shorter streets with some more ingredients; and, long streets are cut into the mix. The “batching” gives a “best of” award for strings of about a dozen houses. Of about 16 “strings,” voters select the top three, which encourages neighbors.
If you did not receive links to the ballot, you are not receiving Loving Mountain City emails. Sign up with a request to [email protected]. This differs from the official City of Mountain City emails.

Nancy Waddell tidbitted from Midland. She wants everyone to know that Lindsay graduated from San Angelo State University. “I am one PROUD mom! She graduated from Hays in 2009 and finished her bachelors in 3 1/2 years. She majored in Animal Business and minored in Marketing. She will be starting in January working on her masters in animal science. Gotta love that kid!”
