The annual Buda Fine Arts and Jazz Festival kicks off this weekend. Join the fun 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday on the green in downtown Buda. This juried art fest draws dozens of artisans from around the state.
The 2012 featured artist is 2011’s Best of Show Artist, woodturner Steve Green.
On Saturday morning, the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Honor Guard get the festivities started at 9:45 a.m., followed by Kim Kafka’s a cappella rendition of our National Anthem.
The Numbers ACC Dixieland Band will play at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Austin Brass Band. Steve Schoen will perform at 1 p.m., followed by the “Let the Saxes and the Trumpet Play.” Beginning at 4:30 p.m., Liz Morphis will entertain the audience. Then catch Dena Taylor at 6 p.m.
On Sunday, Dance Unlimited will perform at noon and Dance by Carly will follow. At 1 p.m. Dennis Lockhart will perform and Kim Kafka-Morris Nelms will follow. Acoustic Jungle will also perform that day.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday there will be a children’s art contest; winners will be announced at 3 p.m.
Also, don’t miss the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Annual Quilt Show at Buda City Hall.
Be sure to drop by the information booth to view mixed media art by Jeremiah Flynn, a Lehman High School student and winner of the 2012 BFAF Carolynn Schneider Memorial Scholarship.
Visitors will also enjoy a bevy of food vendors at the event.
The Buda Fine Arts Festival Committee, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, awards annual art scholarships to graduating seniors from Jack C. Hays and Lehman high schools.
