HAYS CISD – Several Hays CISD campuses will not resume in-person courses until next week, beginning on Monday, March 1, due to damage from the winter storm.
Fuentes, Hemphill and Tom Green Elementary will proceed with virtual learning until next week because the campuses are still undergoing drying measures. This will ensure the moisture from broken pipes is completely dry, including inside the walls of the buildings, before returning to normal operations.
All water boil notices for Hays CISD providers were lifted as of Wednesday, Feb. 24.
Hays CISD has not assessed the total cost of damages to buildings, but it is anticipated that the district will only pay no more than $25,000, the insurance deductible, for the entirety of the storm damages. Further, the district believes it is possible that the deductible will be reimbursed through federal or state disaster relief money.
