Nothing sounds better than the pitter patter of raindrops falling on the roof during a drought. So it was this past week. Some three to four inches fell in the community during the rainy spell, for which we are grateful.

Glad to report that Ed Daugherty was able to attend church with wife Lois and son Jimmy. Kenneth Schnautz is well again and able to attend church. Hope all goes well with both, and Debbie Sorrells, who injured her back (take it easy, Debbie).

Daniel and Sharon Heideman, accompanied by Myrtle Heideman, visited with Adelene Wisian in her new home at the Legend in San Marcos. They also visited with Clarence Heideman, watched the Cowboys lose and then enjoyed a Chinese dinner with him at the China Palace.

It’s time to look for some good cake recipes for the bake sale that will be part of the country store at the Harvest Festival, Oct. 6 at the Uhland Community Center, sponsored by the Women’s Guild of St. John Lutheran Church. Of course, the turkey and dressing meal with all the trimmings will also be served, starting at 11 a.m. There will be arts and crafts booths, games for the youngsters and a cake walk from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A drawing will be held at 2:45 p.m. for a queen-size handmade quilt, a $100 value, donated by the Women’s Guild; a meat pack valued at $129, donated by Bon Ton Meat Market; a box of cold sausage donated by Chisholm Trail Bar-B-Q; and other items.
