Some September events at the Buda Library include art class for adults on Monday, Sept. 17 from 6 to7:30 p.m. (please pre-register at the library) and the adult book club on Thursday, Sept. 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This month’s book is “The Red Garden” by Alice Hoffman.

A cancelled event is the charity poker tournament for Adrianne Warmick. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the tournament scheduled for Sept. 16 will not take place.

Upcoming October events will be “First Thursday” in down town Buda on Oct. 4.
The ninth annual Fine Arts and Jazz Festival will take over the downtown area with a two-day fun packed time on Oct. 20 and 21. The weekend will feature fine art, with artists from around Texas exhibiting their work in oils, pastels, acrylics, glass, mixed media, photography, sculpture, ceramics and handmade jewelry, and it will all be for sale. A quilt show will be held at Buda City Hall, also with many quilt items for sale by the Onion Creek Senior Citizens Buda Bees. There will also be a silent auction, children’s art contest, student art exhibits, and wonderful food from area food vendors. For your entertainment there will be jazz music both days. Mark the date and plan to come to Buda for this free event.

The halls of the schools were filled with grandparents on Monday of this week as the area schools observed Grandparents Day. The older generation of folks appeared to be as excited with school as the youngsters. Good times for all.
