At the Roundup
In the tradition of an honest to goodness country BBQ and music fest, the Chisholm Trail Roundup heats up its griddle for cowboy breakfast on Wednesday and offers a Queen Coronation, auctions, live music, a carnival, a horseshoe tournament, a car show, arts and crafts and tons of fair food all weekend long. Casey Donahew brings the festival to a close on Saturday night with Eleven Hundred Springs opening the show. Free parking and a free bus ride to Lockhart City Park.



Fire Up Those Salsa Recipes
It’s time for the fifth annual Eye of the Dog fundraising Salsa Festival awarding trophies in six categories: Best Traditional, Most Unique, Best Non-Traditional, Blow-Your-Face-Off, Best Presentation, and the coveted TOP DOG award. Votes for Top Dog are cast by depositing $$$ in the entry box of your favorite salsa. (Bring lots of $$) The other trophies are awarded by a team of expert salsa tasters. There is a $10 entry fee for each salsa entered. The festivities begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9 with all entries due by 4 p.m.


From space rock to country gospel anthems
Get out in the sunshine and enjoy a glass of wine at from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at Bell Springs Winery in Dripping Springs as Trace Faulkner sings tear jerking folk ballads, to slow building space rock jams, to country gospel anthems through his whiskey-soaked heartbroken dreams and tales of love and loss.



One last kumbaya
This weekend is the final weekend of the 40th annual Kerrville Folk Festival. Founded in 1972, the festival is the longest running event of its kind in North America. More than 30,000 people attend the festival each year, many camping onsite to enjoy the festival 24 hours a day. Quiet Valley Ranch, nine miles south of Kerrville on Tx. Hwy. 16.


One enchanted evening
Engage all of your senses in an evening of masterful music and fantastic cuisine as Trattoria Lisina hosts a fundraiser for the non-profit Starlight Symphony. Enjoy a three-course menu while being entertained by the orchestra on the veranda of the Mandola Estate in Driftwood at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14.


8th annual Blanco Lavendar Festival
Blanco is the Lavender Capital of Texas and holds a great “Lavender Festival” each June with vendors, displays, tours and entertainment. The Lavender Market, on the grounds of the historic Blanco County Courthouse, is always a must-see highlight of the festival. Selected vendors and artists from across the Hill Country offer lavender-related pleasures and treasures from the finest craftsmen. June 7-10. Downtown Blanco.


Merry Wives
Imagine yourself in a 17th century theater. No dimming of the houselights, because there were none back then, ‘twill be “daylight” on the stage and where you’re sitting? Then revel in the costumes the comedy and the cleaverly distilled and entertaining tale of Falstaff and friends up to mischief in Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. every Sunday in June.
