Patricia Mary Fitzsimonds Lawrence (1932-2012)

Patricia Mary Fitzsimonds Lawrence,79, of Kyle, passed away at her home on May 25, 2012. Patricia was born on August 12, 1932 to James and Gertrude Fitzsimonds of Jericho Center, Vermont. She was the treasured wife of Deacon John Byron Lawrence for over 58 years. She loved with great strength her two surviving daughters and sons , JoAnn Talley, of Houston, Carol Whisenant, of Buda, Brian James Lawrence, of Las Vegas, NV, and Carl John Lawrence of Clear Lake City, TX. Also loved by sons-in-law, Lee Talley, Oscar Whisenant, Earl Kahanek and daughters-in-law, Santa and Vernonica Lawrence and Rosalee Kahanek; 10 grandchildren and their families as well as six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Sarah O’Brien, of Jericho Center, VT, and Joyce Snyder, of South Burlington, VT; their husbands, and several nieces and nephews.


Patricia retired from Shoal Creek Rehabilitation Hospital in Austin, as a Vocational and Occupational Therapist assistant. She was a Kyle Library Thrift Store volunteer and Library Board member. She was a member of the County Farm and Home Extension Organization, St. Anthony’s Ladies’ Altar Society and a member of the Diocesan Deacon Wife Association. Patricia was a strong guard on the Jericho high school basketball team, and a cutthroat, award-winning bowler in various bowling leagues and tournaments in Burlington. She was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan. Go Rangers!


Funeral arrangements were directed by Harrell Funeral Home of Kyle. The Rosary was recited on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial was concelebrated at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.


The family expresses their appreciation to Dr. J. Uyeki of Texas Oncology and Dr. G. Falchook of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and their staff, and also Dr. David Lawrence, retired from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, for his knowledge and care given to the family during this time. We will be eternally grateful for the loving care provided by Hospice-Austin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Religious Education program of St. Anthony Marie de Claret Catholic Church, 801 N. Burleson St., Kyle, TX, 78640.
