BROTHERS

Hays County’s Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT) responded to a Kyle home last week following an alleged domestic abuse incident, city officials say.
Roy Eduard Brothers II, 30, of Kyle, voluntarily surrendered after an early morning standoff with officers and was arrested for reportedly choking his wife on May 30, according to court records.
His wife, Amanda Brothers, 28, told officers that her husband, who was outside the home and intoxicated, first threw a beer can toward her and their son when they returned to their home in the 200 block of Donatello. Once inside, the couple began to argue when Roy Brothers suddenly put his arm around her neck and strangled her, she said in an arrest affidavit.
Roy Brothers eventually let go of his grip, then placed his forearm against her chest and said, “You realize I can kill you right now?” she said in the report.
At about 10:19 p.m., officers arrived at a neighbor’s home and spoke to the alleged victim. Roy Brothers refused to leave his residence, prompting officers to call in the SWAT team, authorities say.
Roy Brothers is charged with a family violence assault for impeding one’s breath, a third-degree felony. A few days later, he was released from Hays County Jail on a $10,000 bond, jail records show.
According to civil court records, the couple is currently in a custody battle over their son.
