Political newcomer and Buda resident Robert Limon has filed for the District 3 position on the Hays CISD School Board of Trustees. Limon summarized his motivation for entering the May school board race by noting that “after years of volunteering in different capacities at several Hays schools, this seemed like the logical progression for me. Through my volunteer efforts, and by raising two children in the school district,I’ve had the opportunity to get to know many of the teachers, staff, and administrators that educate our children. I’ve seen firsthand the struggles that they sometimes face and have a great appreciation for the efforts that are being made in our schools. Even though the economy is starting to turn, we’re going to continue to face funding issues in our district. We’ll need to continue to make the best choices and scrutinize everydollar we spend to educate our children in the most cost?effective manner possible, but still give them the education they deserve.” He also noted that “the teachers and staff we have working in our schools are our biggest asset. We need to continue to make the district a work place that attracts and retains the best teachers and staff in central Texas.”
Limon is currently the owner of Central Texas Productions, a start?up media production business. His preceding 16 years of employment were with Austin Community College and the state of Texas as an Accountant and Budget and Financial Analyst. During that time, he also helped organize the first PTA’s at Tom Green Elementary and Barton Middle Schools. He served as the first president at both organizations. He also coached in several youth programs and worked to provide competitive basketball opportunities for area children during the summer. Robert graduated from St. Edward’s University in 2001 with a degree in Business Management.
Robert and his wife, Norma, have two children, Alyssa (20), a student at the University of Texas at Austin and Bobby (17), a junior at Hays High School. Alyssa was a 2010 graduate at Hays.
“I’m running for the School Board because I believe I can help make a difference. With my work experience in government and now as a small business owner, I’ll bring to the position my financial knowledge and experience to help our board plan for the future and ensure our school system remains financially sound” said Limon.
