STAFF REPORT
Camp HeartSong and Camp HeartSong, Too! are summer bereavement camps sponsored by CTMC Hospice Care in San Marcos, created to meet the special needs of children and adolescents who have experienced the death of a family member or another significant person in their lives.
The primary goal for both camps is to provide a stress-free and fun experience where kids can “just be kids” while providing a safe and supportive environment to explore the feelings surrounding their loss. Support groups and individual counseling will be made available by our bereavement counselor.
Camp HeartSong is June 3-5 for children ages 8-13 and will be held at John Knox Ranch, a 300 acre camp facility located on the banks of the Blanco River, six miles from Wimberley. Kids will spend three days and two nights in camp lodges supervised by trained adult camp counselors including a licensed social worker and registered nurse.
Camp HeartSong, Too! is a day camp for adolescents ages 14-18 years old and will take place on June 7-8, 2012. Teens will spend two days participating in group activities including sports, gaming, ropes course and arts and crafts.
Both camps are free of charge and funded through the CTMC Seasons of Sharing annual campaign and donations through the community. For an application to either camp, or for more information about volunteering to be a counselor, please call CTMC Hospice Care at 512-754-6159 or email [email protected].
