It is beginning to look like a great two-day Budafest weekend. The weather should be wonderful for strolling along Main Street and visiting all the shops and the crafts booths that will be set up on the greenbelt. The parade will kick things off at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, Dec. 1, and of course Mr. and Mrs. Santa will be there to talk with the children. Many nonprofit organizations will have food and drinks for sale and, as always, there is free music and much fun for the entire family. Don’t miss it.

The friends of the Buda Library will host the “members only” book sale on Friday, Nov. 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be good bargains in hardcovers and paperbacks; audio and children’s books; and Friends memberships are available at the door. The book sale will continue on Saturday and Sunday.
The Boy Scouts will march in the parade on Saturday morning and also collect toys during Budafest. Help the boys by donating a toy for children in need.

Members of Buda’s Onion Creek Senior Citizens are asking for community support of their Budafest booth, which will be stocked with home-baked goods and beautiful handmade items. The booth is located under the old oak tree across from the gazebo. Also, show your support for the Buda seniors by purchasing raffle tickets for the quilt drawing. Quilt tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The drawing for the winner of the quilt will be held Sunday evening at the Knights of Columbus dinner at Santa Cruz Catholic Church. Need not be present to win.

Some of us just ate turkey and watched football games on Thanksgiving Day, but our running friend, James Hill, hit the pavement at the Las Colinas Turkey Trot 5k in Irving. The 73-year-old Hill came in with a time of 20:36, giving him a second-place medal for his age division.
