Former Hays County Judge, M.D., Bert Cobb died on Wednesday, Aug. 4.
Cobb served as the county judge for two terms. He was elected in 2010 and retired on December 31, 2018 from county service and as head of the Hays County Commissioners Court.
He announced in August 2017 that he has been diagnosed with leukemia and was battling the disease ever since.
During his eight years of leading the county, Cobb oversaw implementation of road projects, expansion of medical services to residents through an agreement with Live Oak Health Partners and a return of federal dollars to local hospitals for indigent care through what is known as a “1115 Waiver Program." He also supervised flood remediation and implemented video magistration to streamline entry into the legal system.
Details about a funeral service are not available at this time.
Before being elected judge, Cobb served as a medical doctor in San Marcos.
