More than 700 Hays CISD seniors turned the tassels on their caps and made their way into the world as high school graduates this weekend.

On Thursday, afternoon rain gave way to a glorious red sunset as nearly 400 Hays High School seniors walked the field at Bob Shelton Stadium to the tune of Pomp and Circumstance and the cheers of family members. The Hays graduates wore red robes to collect their diplomas.

“We have the chance to be the change we want to see in the world,” Hays High School valedictorian Michael Trahan told his classmates.

On Friday, 328 Lehman High School seniors donned blue robes for their commencement at Shelton Stadium.

Lehman 2010 valedictorian Meera Day urged her classmates to hold true to the values they learned together in high school.

“As you go out into the world, continue to inspire others,” Day said. “We have a lot to offer the outside world.”

On Saturday, 37 seniors from Academy High School graduated at the Hays Performing Arts Center. Wearing green robes, students at the district’s alternative high school of choice walked the stage to receive their diplomas.
