Kyle Parks & Recreation
by KERRY URBANOWICZ
With the July 4th weekend right around the corner and summer sauna already here, how can we beat the heat? The best place is at the Kyle Pool. And next Sunday, July 4, the Kyle Pool will open early and stay late. The Kyle Pool will open on July 4 at noon and close at 7 p.m. But stick around the park as the annual Independence Day Celebration’s Fireworks Show starts around 9:30. The Fireworks Show can best be seen around Gregg-Clarke Park in downtown or any vantage point that has the Stagecoach water-tower in sight.
Are the kids bored at home yet? Send them off to one of Kyle PARD’s summer camps. From 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, we will keep them entertained, go on several field trips each week, play with others their age and go swimming. Are your kids too old to attend our camps?
Your Kyle Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce its first ever Counselor-In-Training or CIT program in conjunction with our Summer Day Camp Program. This new program will allow teenagers from the ages of 14 - 17, who are too old to attend camp and too young to be a counselor at camp, work with the staff and gain hands-on experience and knowledge of what it is like to be a summer day camp counselor. CITs will learn leadership skills, basic CPR/First Aid (no certification will be given), teamwork, communication, understanding, and much more. This program will not only provide the CIT with skills they can use for a lifetime, it will also provide them with a fun and safe environment.
Just too much going on for me to list everything we have to offer. Receive the first edition of the PARD E-Guide. This electronic version of our quarterly newsletter is the first source of information for all things related to parks and recreation. Send us your email address to receive your copy or visit our website to view the latest edition: www.kylepard.com and the office number is 262-3939. Be safe, use sunscreen and enjoy your summer.
