Lehman High School Criminal Justice Competition Squad had a standout showing at the recent competitive meet at Texas State University, with the entire contingent qualifying for state competition at Sam Houston State University this May. Wasting the competition in foot pursuit, fingerprinting and felony traffic stops, 11 members of the Lehman High School Criminal Justice Competition Squad showed off their crime-fighting chops at the Texas Public Safety Association contest held recently at Texas State University.
The full team will advance to state competition this May at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.
The Lobos’ firsts included Jasmine Esquivel in Obstacle Course Female, Christian Guajardo and Evan Flores in Felony Traffic Stop Team and Matt Calderon, Torri Torres, Selina Gomez and Stefan Munoz in Obstacle Course Team.
Both Gomez and Munoz took seconds in their respective Obstacle Course Individual events. Additionally, Jazsmine Rodriguez was second in Fingerprinting and Criminal Case Analysis, Gabe Rebollar scored a second in Foot Pursuit, and Rebollar and Christian Guajardo were second in Building Search Team. Matt Calderon and Evan Flores grabbed a third in Building Search Team.
Area police officers provided judging for the competition.
Lehman Criminal Justice teacher Erica Williamson took the students to the competition, but she named a host of supporters who helped make the weekend a success. They included Officer Alex Villalobos, President of the Texas State University Police Officer Association, and Lehman School Resource Officers John Dees and Scott Webber.
