On Center

Looks like Kyle’s first annual Earth Day Share-Fair was a big success based on the number of folks milling around City Square Park last Saturday despite the early morning rain and soggy grounds. With live music, tons of eco-info and fun give-aways, everyone seemed happy to be there. And in keeping with the facelift underway in the park, dozens of potted plants were given a permanent home right outside the steps leading to our original City Hall (in that round bricked-in flower bed that once was home to our annual Christmas tree, and before that, our city park fountain) compliments of Kyle Elementary School students and faculty. Keep your eyes open for the completion of the renovation of City Hall. I hear that it’s just around the corner and it’s going to be fabulous.
And, although now you are legally remiss and someone is going to be knocking on your door, you still have to fill out that danged 2010 Census form. As of last Friday 28 percent of our local citizens still had not turned them in. C’mon. Five minutes. Just send it in, let’s get counted and get our fair share.

Also, don’t forget that early voting starts on Monday, April 26th, to fill the final two seats on our city council. Drop by City Hall between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and be the first to be counted in the general election which will be held on May 8th. Brad Pickett is running unopposed for District 3 and Diane Hervol will be taking on Jason Welsh to capture the District 1 seat. Just one more election and then you can rest until November.
