It didn’t invoke quite the same intensity as it will a few months from now when the two rivals are scheduled to meet on the gridiron in the district opener in the fall, but it was still fun to watch for Lobo fans.

Senior receiver Harvest Trammell caught two highlight reel touchdown passes and also contributed an interception on defense to stop an early Rebel drive as Lehman beat Hays 32-6 in Tuesday night’s 7-on-7 passing league action.

Trammell, who was the starting quarterback for the Lobos last fall, leaped high over two Hays defenders to haul in a 15-yard TD pass from Ryan Wagner for the first score of the game and then later scored on a play in which he slid in front of another defender to secure a 20-yard TD strike late in the second half.

“I felt really confident switching positions this year,” Trammell said. “I had a lot of fun out there tonight. I was just trying to make some plays for my team.”

Wagner also tossed touchdown passes to Andrew Longworth, Matt Riojas and Levi Ridley in the Lobo romp.

Hays’ Francisco Marin (left) came up big on the final play of the game to help the Rebels knock off San Antonio Warren in the Alamo Heights 7-on-7 tournament.

Hays lone touchdown came on Kurt Timmons’ nifty 15-yard TD catch on the final play of the first half to pull Hays within 13-6.

The Rebels were playing without four key players who were away on a church trip, but Hays head coach Ryan Shelton offered no excuses.

“Lehman played much harder than we did tonight and deserved to win,” Shelton said. “Our kids made some mistakes but it doesn’t mean we’re not a good team. We just haven’t been able to put two good halves together so far this summer.”

Both teams were coming off losses earlier on Tuesday night with Lehman dropping a 26-13 decision to Bowie and Hays falling 26-18 to Wimberley.
