Austin-based Dynamic Systems Inc. is building a 114,000-square-foot facility in south Buda where it plans to relocate 250 workers currently employed in Austin.
The company, which fabricates and installs exhaust and plumbing systems for commercial buildings, was the second major employer to break ground in September.
Chicago-based U.S. Foodservice began construction of a 290,000-square-foot distribution center at CR 118 and Turnersville Road in the Sunfield Municipal Utility District. When it opens in October 2011, U.S. Foods will employ 250 with the possibility of future expansion.
In August, the parent company of Danfoss Chatleff LLC said it would shutter its manufacturing plant on West Goforth Road in Buda as it consolidated its operations in Monterrey, Mexico. About 120 people will lose their jobs by the end of the year as a result of the closure.
DSI is building on 15 acres in the South Buda Business Park wedged between the westside of Interstate 35 and FM 967.
The business park also includes 20 acres on which Capital Excavation plans to relocate from its location east of IH-35 in north Buda. Capital Excavation owns and developed the South Buda Business Park.
