Last flu shot clinics
The last in a series of flu vaccination clinics being offered to uninsured and underinsured Hays CISD students are available at Carpenter Hill Elementary School Thursday, Oct. 28, Negley Elementary School Monday, Nov. 1, Elm Grove Elementary Tuesday, Nov. 2, and Camino Real Elementary Wednesday, Nov. 3. Clinics begin at 9 a.m. Cost is $10. Required eligibility forms are available in campus nurse offices.
G/T meetings Thursday
Carpenter Hill Elementary School will offer its campus Gifted/Talented (G/T) orientation program Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. Topics on the agenda include the referral process, assessment procedures and G/T service design. Lehman High School offers its “Gifted and Talented Referral Night” Thursday, as well, at 6:30 p.m.
Fuentes presents ‘Pure Imagination’
Fuentes Elementary third-graders present “Pure Imagination,” a music program, Thursday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. Costumed students under the direction of music teacher Kristopher Brown will sing and dance to songs about their favorite book characters.
Tobias circus Thursday
Tobias Elementary rolls out its free three-ring circus Thursday, Oct. 28, 5:30-7 p.m. Advance publicity from the active campus trumpets, “See how strong you are! Can you walk a tightrope? Juggling, tumbling, balloon animals, music…create masks, funny family photos and much more clownin’ around!”
Band-o-Rama goes Italian
The Hays High Rebel Band Boosters announce this year’s Band-o-Rama Scholarship Dinner, set for this Friday, Oct. 29, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at the Hays High cafeteria. The Carino’s Italian Grill meal includes spaghetti, Fettucini Alfredo, salad, bread and Tickets are $8 and can be purchased from any member of the Hays High School Band or at the door and take-outs are available.
Blanco Vista carnival Saturday
Blanco Vista Elementary’s Fall Carnival is set for Saturday, Oct. 30, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Maria Ortega reports for the PTA that there will be plenty of entertainment, more than 20 food booths, and plenty of activities for kids to participate in, including the haunted house, a gym arcade, a cake walk and “lots more!”
Chapa hosts talent, art shows
Chapa Middle School offers dual programs Thursday, Oct. 28, as it hosts its 5th Annual “Students have better things to do than Drugs” Talent Show and its “Dia de los Muertos Art Show.” The art show runs from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the Cougar library and features a student-designed t-shirt and postcards of select student works. The talent show is set for 6-8 p.m. and a canned food donation or $1 is requested for the area food bank.
