An 11-year-old Wallace Middle School student was walking to her bus stop Friday morning when she was approached by a stranger, a man, driving a black truck.
The student got away, according to the Kyle Police Department. She reported the incident to an adult, who then contacted the police.
Kyle Police Department and Hays CISD are working together to investigate the incident.
If residents know anything about the incident, which occurred in the area of Arbor Knot Drive at approximately 6:45 a.m., they are asked to contact the Kyle Police Department at 512-268-3232. Residents may also submit information online at www.p3tips.com.
Hays CISD also asks of parents and caregivers to speak with their children about safety. Reporting out-of-the-ordinary or blatantly wrong behavior to a trusted adult – parent, teacher, school employee or law enforcement officer – is important, said Tim Savoy, Hays CISD chief communication officer.
“We know receiving information like this can be very unsettling for parents,” Savoy added. “Know, however, that we live in a community that cares for one another and places the highest importance on safety. Every school day, there is an army of law enforcement officers, bus drivers, parents, and others who are out and about on phones and radios, working to keep our students safe on their way to and from school.”
