Dahlstrom Middle School renewed its commitment to the anti-bullying program, “Rachel’s Challenge,” with a schoolwide assembly.
“Rachel’s Challenge” was formed by friends and family of Rachel Joy Scott, a victim of the Columbine school shooting in 1999 who, shortly before her death, penned a diary entry about her concern for others. The Mustang Parent-Teacher Association brought the program to Dahlstrom two years ago.
Seventh and eighth graders shared lessons from the program with students in the sixth grade – eliminate prejudice, choose good influences and use kind words in everyday conversation – with students in sixth grade.
The assembly was written and produced largely by students in Zach Vandermeer’s and Robert Vinyard’s classes.
