On May 9, the small towns of the area will once again join with their larger neighbors, holding elections to fill city council positions.
Niederwald has three positions to fill on its council. As of Tuesday afternoon, four residents had filed to run, including Charles Bisson, Shirley Shirey and incumbent Monique Boitnott. The fourth, Harvey Keebler, told city administrator Richard Crandal that he intended to drop out of the running, but had yet to file the paperwork.
In Mtn. City, five will duke it out for three seats. Incumbents Leslie "Les" Dullnig and Lee Taylor will face off against Trish Wells, Carolyn Hagan and Kim Stiles-Podhajsky. The top three vote getters will win the seats.
Sylvia Coffee decided not to seek re-election.
Only Daniel Heideman filed to fill the unexpired term for Uhland Mayor. Former mayor Albert Busse resigned his post shortly after winning his write-in candidacy last year.
Four men - incumbent John Franklin, Russell Schulz, Robert Wilson and write-in candidate Rick Tobias - will run to fill three seats on the Uhland Board of Aldermen.
