In 1983, the Onion Creek Senior Citizens, Inc., was formed by a group of Buda area residents who saw the need for a non-profit association to benefit the community of older citizens. Now, 26 years later, the senior citizens will hold their annual membership meeting on Thursday, March 12, with the business meeting starting at 9:30 a.m. to elect four members to the board of directors.
On the ballot this year will be five (5) candidates seeking four positions on the board. Seeking re-election are Nolan Kunkel and Elaine Mason. Annette Chambers-Rodriguez, who has served on the board in the past, along with Monta Foster and Richard Harlow round out the ballot. Of the four elected, one candidate will fill the one-year term of Chris Logan who has resigned and the other three will serve three-year terms.
Immediately following the business meeting there will be a live auction. The auction is always a fun time for the seniors and, with the help of our new Sheriff Tommy Ratliff and Lt. Leroy Opiela, this year will also be one to enjoy and hopefully raise a pot of money.
A catered lunch will be served around 12:15 p.m. The lunch will cost $7. We encourage the public to come and support the senior center.

We extend our deepest sympathy to the Rogers family. Dorothy Elizabeth DeWinne, 87, of San Antonio passed away last week. She was the mother of Richard Rogers and wife Terri and the grandmother of Courtney, Cody and Clay.

Ray Mason is home after having lung surgery and needing to stay in the hospital much longer than he would have liked, too.

On Monday morning anyone in the downtown Buda area caught a glimpse of something unusual. A train car with the wording "Federal Safety Administration" on the side passed through on its way down the south tracks.
