DRIPPING SPRINGS — After the more than $400 million bond package failed in November, Dripping Springs ISD is ready for another bond election.
Several parents and district staff were left concerned about DSISD’s future following the failed $481.13 million bond package with three propositions from the general election held on Nov. 8, 2022.
The package included the following: the construction of a sixth elementary school; Sycamore Springs Middle School expansion; campus security updates; property for future facilities; capital maintenance projects on old campuses; a second high school; and technology device replacements.
During a special meeting on Feb. 15, the Dripping Springs Board of Trustees unanimously approved an order to call for a bond election to be held on May 6.
The following will be included in the $223.7 million package:
• Build Elementary School #6 (850 student capacity)
• Expand Sycamore Springs MS to 1,200 student capacity
• Build new facility for Special Education 18+ Program
• Design Elementary School #7, Middle School #3 and High School #2
• Capital improvements & renovations at Dripping Springs Elementary School, Dripping Springs Middle School and Dripping Springs High School
• Security updates for all campuses
• Reconfigure CL&I and Maker Space at Rooster Springs and Dripping Springs elementaries
• Update sound and lighting systems in spaces at various campuses
• Replace pressure reducing valves at various campuses
• ADA updates
• Land for future facilities
• Replacing 13 buses
• Classroom portables
• Child Nutrition Services (kitchen) equipment replacements
• Technology infrastructure (Network, Servers, Firewall, AV)
Construction of a new high school will not be on the ballot, which was included in the last election.
The deadline for voter registration is April 6.
Early voting begins April 24 and election day is May 6.
