KYLE —Yvonne Flores-Cale, current Kyle City Council District 2 representative, announced her candidacy for the office of mayor on Tuesday, June 13.

Flores-Cale was elected to council in November 2020 and prides herself as being a “true servant of the people” who, “places the needs and wants of the residents first."

As a council member, she voted in line with her goals of smart growth and fiscally responsible spending, while prioritizing infrastructure and public safety, according to the candidate.

“I see the potential in the city of Kyle and believe that leadership with a well-rounded outlook will take us there,” Flores-Cale said.

The mayoral candidate has been in the legal profession since 2009 and has worked as a corporate paralegal for more than 10 years.

“My experience in mediation has helped me to become an effective communicator with people who have varying points of view. Even when there may be disagreements, I am confident in my abilities to understand the position of others while also explaining my own position and working to collaborate on the most sensible outcome,” she said.

While living in Kyle, Flores-Cale has built strong relationships with the community and residents, which has been her motivation when fighting for their needs and wants. It is also why she knows she will serve as the “people’s mayor” and be a “leader the residents deserve," she said.

As with her first two campaigns, Flores-Cale said she will remain nonpartisan. Her hope is to gain support from all sides, showing that what matters is the people and not the parties.

Flores-Cale graduated in 2008 from the University of Iowa with a degree in Business and Communication and earned her M.A. in legal studies from Texas State in 2013. She has been a resident of Kyle for more than 11 years and a homeowner since 2014. She has three kids and two grandkids, three of whom attend schools in Hays CISD.

Flores-Cale and her husband Jason welcomed their son at Seton Hays Hospital in 2013, making him a first generation “Kylite.”

While her campaign kick-off plans are still being finalized, Flores-Cale asks that those interested in learning more about her candidacy or supporting her campaign stay tuned to her campaign Facebook page and website for further updates.
