BUDA — Mayoral incumbent Lee Urbanovsky has announced his intention to seek reelection for the city of Buda.
Urbanovsky was born in Houston, but moved to Milano — a small rural town near Caldwell — when he was 3 years old. He graduated from Milano High School and Texas A&M University.
He and his wife, Amy, have four children, ages 29, 22, 15 and 11, plus a daughter-in-law and a 2-month-old grandson.
The candidate has served on council and as mayor for the past seven years, overseeing seven city budgets, three legislative sessions, two winter storms and the pandemic.
Urbanovsky has 23 years of experience focused on development, project management and the construction industry, with roles as superintendent, project manager, owner’s representative and operations manager.
The incumbent’s proudest accomplishments as mayor include the following: the city’s COVID-19 response; the city coming together during Winter Storm Uri; Buda’s large infrastructure and parks bond in 2021; maintaining a low city tax rate; and the hiring of a new city manager after Kenneth Williams retired.
He has decided to run for reelection citing the growth in Buda.
“I feel I still have more to do. Buda is facing significant growth pressure and my experience and background lends well to Buda’s need for the next few years,” Urbanovsky said.
Should he be elected, the candidate hopes to complete the 2021 bond projects and “protect the Buda we have grown to love and keep us relevant in our fast-growing region” while continuing to “grow and encourage unique businesses and promote tax and job creators,” Urbanovsky said.
