WIMBERLEY — The Katherine Anne Porter School (KAPS) recently received a makeover with exterior paint, transforming the appearance of the large concrete structure on FM 2325.
The project was made possible with donations of primer and paint products by Behr Paint Company, Home Depot in Dripping Springs and Sherwin Williams Paint. The painting was completed by Ball Brothers 1-800-Painting of Wimberley.
According to a July 19 news release, the new look of the exterior “reflects the vibrant learning community housed within,” it stated. “A creative community celebrating diversity and freedom in learning, KAPS’ mission is to educate and empower students with knowledge, skills and practices to be successful and compassionate in school and life.”
Founded in 1998 as a high school, the charter school serves students from Wimberley and surrounding areas and will expand to include grades 7-12 beginning in the fall of 2023.
Under the direction of Superintendent Dr. Subhas Mathew, KAPS will be moving to a schedule alternating between five days and four days of attendance every other week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by after-school clubs and activities from 4 to 6 p.m.
