DRIPPING SPRINGS — With a 48-0 win, the Dripping Springs Tigers shutout the Akins High School Eagles on Homecoming Night on Friday, Oct. 6 — but the festivities started earlier in the week for the Tigers with a campus parade and a pep rally and carnival last Wednesday.

The Tigers’ first score was a 10-yard pitch pass from junior quarterback Maddox Maher (No. 5) to senior Maddox Bloomgren (No. 80). Bloomgren dodged several defenders and found the endzone for the first touchdown of the evening.

The Tigers scored on every possession of the first half and the halftime score was Tigers 42, Eagles 0. The Tiger's kicker, Ian French, made a 26-yard field goal in the third quarter and a 32-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers were productive on offense, running 55 plays for a total of 397 yards. The offensive breakdown was 145 yards passing and 252 yards on the ground. Maher had six out of 10 in pass completions for a total of 70 yards and two touchdowns. Backup quarterback sophomore Logan Keim (No. 49) had seven out of nine in pass completions for 75 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Running back Jack Tyndall (No. 18) led with eight carries for 134 yards and had three touchdowns. In the second spot was sophomore running back Jaceton Gotta (No. 46) with 11 carries for 71 yards.

The Tiger defense shutout the Eagles and held them to 29 yards passing and 30 yards rushing. The defensive stars were senior Theo Howard (No. 14), who had three tackles and four assists, and sophomore Colton Hanson with three tackles and one assist.

The Tigers are now 4-0 in district and will travel to Westlake High School (4-0) on Friday, Oct. 13 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
