CONVERSE  — On Saturday, Nov. 18, the Dripping Springs Tigers traveled to Judson High School in Converse for the area round of the UIL 6A D2 playoffs.

In the first quarter, the Tigers scored first on a 2-yard run by Tiger running back Jack Tyndall. He scored again on a 4-yard run and the first quarter ended with the score tied at 14-14

After a hard fought first half, the score was Judson 21-17. In the third quarter, Judson scored two touchdowns and went up 34 to 17. However, Tiger senior Jack Williams came in and hit Cooper Reid on an 8-yard pass and the third quarter ended with the score Judson 34,  Tigers 24.

The fourth quarter opened with Williams completing a 33-yard touchdown pass to Reid and the score was Judson 34, Tigers 31. The Tigers kicked off to Judson with six minutes remaining in the game. The Tigers defense stopped Judson and they were unable to make a first down with time winding down.

Unable to make a first down, Judson punted the ball to the Tigers 10 yard line. With three minutes remaining in the game, Williams led a dramatic comeback drive.

After several completions and runs to get the ball on the 3-yard line, senior Kyle Koch ran the ball in for a 3-yard touchdown. After the Tigers scored, they kicked off to Judson and they had one minute in the game to score a touchdown for the win.

The Tigers defense stepped up again and the Judson quarterback Elijah Favala threw the ball in the waiting arms of Tiger defender Deacon Ivey. The game ended and the final score was Tigers 38 and Judson 34.

After the game, Williams stated, “The win feels great, coaches always said, ‘Be ready.’ Since I have gotten hurt, I have been practicing like I'm the guy. It showed tonight and everyone still believes in me from when I got hurt. It feels really special to come out and play well when it really matters.”

Williams was asked about the last interception of the game, made by Ivey, and he stated their defense really stepped it up and that interception really relieved a lot of weight off me and it felt amazing.

The next round will be the area regionals, to be played at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Alamodome against John Jay High School from San Antonio.
