The land for Station 4 — a partnership between Kyle FD and Texas State University — was acquired in 1991 for $10,000 from a willing landowner who wanted to help the fire department and at the time, the tax rate for Hays County ESD 5 was $0.03 on the dollar, according to community outreach specialist Andy Womble. A $180 deposit check was also written on the spot for the land. The estimation completion date for the project is December 2024.
