DRIPPING SPRINGS — The sixth elementary school in Dripping Springs ISD is getting closer to fruition with a groundbreaking ceremony set for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 in the Headwaters neighborhood.
The ceremony will include a brief program and groundbreaking with comments from DSISD Superintendent Dr. Holly Morris-Kuentz and board president Dr. Stefani Reinold. All DSISD stakeholders and community members are welcome to attend.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on the future site of Elementary #6 off Mira Vista Drive. When entering the Headwaters neighborhood, ceremony attendees are asked to continue on Headwaters Boulevard after the first roundabout and drive for a half-mile and then, take the Mira Vista Drive exit off the second roundabout.
Elementary #6 is anticipated to relieve overcrowding at both Dripping Springs Elementary and Walnut Springs Elementary and will feed into Dripping Springs Middle School. The campus will be located on the western edge of the neighborhood and accommodate 850 students in grades Pre-K through fifth.
According to the district, the 117,835 square-foot school project has a budget of $66,264,500. The architect is Pfluger and American Constructors is overseeing the construction.
Construction will begin in the summer of 2024 and the campus is expected to open for the 2025-26 school year. The naming of the school will occur during the 2024-25 school year and attendance rezoning will take place in the spring of 2025, so the district can have the most accurate enrollment data.
