AUSTIN — Ally Medical Emergency Room is accepting donations throughout the month of August to support the operations of Austin Pets Alive!

The Central Texas nonprofit performs surgery on upwards of 50 animals per day and supplies, like blankets and flat sheets, are as critical to their work as the skilled veterinarians and technicians who perform these life-saving surgeries, according to a news release. Additionally, Ally Medical Emergency Room recognizes Austin Pets Alive! is a key community partner in keeping Austin the largest and longest-running no-kill city nationwide.

"Caring is the foundation of our mission," said Emmanuel Colliot, CEO of Ally Medical Emergency Room. "We recognize the role Austin Pets Alive! fulfills for the greater Austin community. They have proven themselves over 16 years to be a true community partner for local cities and other animal welfare organizations to improve live outcomes for the region's shelters and show that, with the proper care, pets with even the most serious health conditions can go on to live rewarding, long lives with their human companion."

This month, the broader community is encouraged to drop off donations at any of Ally Medical ER's six Austin area locations. The most needed items include flat sheets, blankets, martingale collars, five-foot or six-foot flat leashes and crates and carriers.

"Since 2008, Austin Pets Alive! has saved the lives of more than 120,000 pets,” said Nigel Fuentes, director of philanthropy and partnerships at Austin Pets Alive! “Every day, we value the donations of time, supplies, and financial support from the community. Every contribution goes directly toward our mission to respect, value and love each animal in our care."

Collection points are set up at all six Austin area Ally Medical Emergency Rooms, which include Central Austin, South Austin, Bastrop, Buda, Dripping Springs and Round Rock. Donations will be accepted through Aug. 31. Donors will be offered a pet-themed thank you gift in appreciation for their support.
